1st Antenatal Class

Attended the antenatal class conducted by Mys Wong Bo Boi from TMC yesterday evening.
Class was interesting & we have picked up some useful information.
Also learnt some simple exercise to "look good & feel good."

Info from Mrs Wong to mums-to-be:

- to prevent constipation, drink a cup of warm water every morning (a form of detox too)
- no cold water during confinement (cos will contraint the blood vessels & limit blood circulation)
- no swimming in the morning for preg/ after delivery cos' of possible chills
- limit intake of wine during confinement cos it will go into the breast milk and finally to bb. bb will have "hangover". confinement food should be boiled till the alcohol content has evaporated.
- limit intake of ginger
- should bath, wash hair during confinement for personal hygiene, especially if breastfeeding.
(the old wives tales from China -- ancient times women do not bath or wash their hair cos' the river water is full of germs and will affect the wounds and they do not have a thing call - hair dryer.)
- mummies can take bird nests during preg and it does help bb to have fair skin, (not scientifically proven but mrs wong has seen real cases.) Bird nests is best brewed with rock sugar only. Cos if brewed with other herbs, the stronger herbs get absorbed while the bird nests get flushed out.)
- mummies to try to sleep in the left side cos it helps to give nutrients to bb
